All it takes is 60litres- to get licensed raw milk in summer at Jannei-

We were just doing the figures for another potential customer Peter, in Melbourne. In summer we can deliver 5 boxes of stock = 60 litres for about $150 to Victoria. This is $2.50 a litre to cover freight. You add a sticker to on sell it in Victoria -that says fully licensed milk NSW- clean for Human consumption in NSW =On Sold as Pet Milk in Victoria because of Victorian laws. Jannei milk has to have no E. coli in NSW and plate counts have to be bellow 12000. We are licensed to produce raw milk by the NSW Food Authority.

Fresh milk can then be for instance, $16.75 a litre and is within the reach of any delivery destination Jannei and our partner refrigerated company can get to. You can gather a few friends for a fortnightly order during our summer season. Jannei wants to stay on farm and keep producing great, healthy milk for our customers. Do the math with freight costs as they are an add on- let your friends know the milk plus freight price and get an order together for 60 litres – add cheese to the top of the box and what a bargain- We call it ship-share at Jannei. Freight to then South and North coast and ACT is about $100- $150 so even less per litre if you get orders together for the community- Get people to Prepay the litres plus freight and put in an order. It does take passionate people like us with a passion to have a heathy product and do it through love. It’s not always about money – Does every small business cover every cost ? And then add their profit margin?

Hope to hear from you soon or see some orders coming in from our regulars as they share their passion-We at Jannei need to focus on milk sales – we make great cheese too, but the fact is we need to sell bulk milk in summer – and don’t forget the kefir lasts a month and is full of probiotics too. Feight IS dear so if we can get some passionate goat milk lovers to get orders together for their friends it would be a move toward volume= cheaper fresh produce and covers freight too. Our milk comes refrigerated bellow 5C -you just need to keep it bellow 5C by law while you get it out to friends and family or they come to you. Ice would help with this! Or a fridge in the Garage!

Spring has finally sprung at Jannei goat dairy-

Our mums are dropping kids again and we are endevouring to develop and add new services to the farm . With the onset of many cute baby kids about the place we have been thinking we should get our farm walk s, baby cuddles and even some baby bottle feeding established .

Processes!

It will mean a few more things to organise like young farm hands and staff to help with these activities and also continue on at the cellar door with cheese tasting, product purchases and alfresco enjoyment for customers with beverages and snack offerings. picnics available on site for customers booking!

We hope to do these on our normal open days as well as offer special direct bookings for groups looking for a different kind of morning tea experiences.

Services!

So, look out on our web site for our new services and add Ons. There may be a few bumps along the way as we iron out different management issues, but we hope these won’t cause too many dramas. Our aim is to share the blessings God has given us at Jannei with others. Plus provide added income that supports the farms priority focus which was always to supply a quality natural raw milk to our customers, who value wholesome natural products. Jannei is an intensive farm business providing raw milk, raw kefir, cheese and yoghurt.

Full Circle ahead-

Jannei has spent 30 years going full circle from milk to cheese to milk and Kefir. We kept with our raw milk and refined it and our harvesting to the quality it is being appreciated for today. On the way we had to learn to make cheese and we did – we achieved multiple awards, bronze, silver and gold at show levels and national level – to champion awards of shows. When customers buy our cheese along with their raw milk orders, they are helping us sell the excess milk that has been produced in summer months into cheese. The farm is very slow in winter for 3 months sales in cheese help us balance the costs of running all year.

Jannei Delivery Costs

In summer we don’t charge for our packing and packaging and delivery to Sydney- so more in your box’s helps us and gives you good products for consuming. The freight charge goes to our Sydney freight for delivery to homes. Depot to home address alone. Our product sales are the main thing that drive our focus and sustainability. So, remember not everything you eat has to be raw to give you good nutrition. The preservatives and fillers in other foods are far worse than Jannei cheese so have some heathy Jannei product gems in the fridge for the month food plan. Remember they are totally healthy, digestible and award-winning quality.

Jannei Kid Cuties and daffodils-

See our kiddy photos attached – don’t forget to check out our farm experiences. At present it is daffodil and blossom time in the garden it’s always amazing to see the garden come to life and the native birds hanging out – chirping away. Our walk around the farm will provide spots to stop and enjoy the farm life.

Sarah Enjoys one on one with 2024 baby kids.
Kids love to say hello and our new trail coming soon will take you to see the bucks and the adorable teenagers.

Freight is UP!

So sorry to have to tell customers -Just this week we had to send out stock and were told same day the freight would cost an extra $10 to homes. We are out of pocket for last week, so we had to put the freight up this week- no delay. We also do not charge to get boxes to Sydney- and none of the freight money is our charges – so we have also put minimum purchase to $70- most customers do buy this amount and we are thank full. Everyone who comes into our cellar door says the cheese we make is lovely and tasty – one even liked it better than a big supplier to Super markets – That was our Buche Blanc- drizzle it with your own fresh oil and herbs and you get a bargain-So please try our cheese in your box too.

These are difficult times as we rely on our door-to-door sales and our direct customer sales. Jannei farm is just coming into full milk supply, and the product raw milk is in demand but the charges and extra cost happening now may prove a testing point yet again.

So that’s the heads up – hope everyone can still support us and our unique exclusive product- real food that’s healthy for everyone.

Jannei is – joining with our community Central West- to Promote our Western District in the 2026 RAS EASTER SHOW. IT’S show time!

Jannei is sending down our fresh pressed curd-the- Buche Noir to the 2026 RAS EASTER SHOW DISTRICT DISPLAY. This is where all the districts of NSW showcase their harvest for the awards and display- in the main pavilion. Always a popular display with the public because it’s all about getting together as communities.

Jannie’s Buche Noir is a lovely creamy fresh pressed cheese. The Buche Noir stores in the fridge for two months. Our customers however mostly say- ” It’s not going to last that long!” The Buche Noir is available online and at Jannei cellar door and sales. Also seek it out at Pennys Cheese Shop at Potts Point.

Thanks to the organisers-

2026 RAS EASTER SHOW-ALL OUR ENTRIES

Dairy Awards 2026 RAS

The Dairy Awards are professionally judged, often by international Judges. The show society committee for this event does an excellent job. This is where we have trialed a lot of our cheese styles over the last 30 years as small batch Artisan Cheesemakers. We are entered this year as always in the non-bovine awards section. Which can at times be quite a feat to win, when the non-bovine awards include any mixes of milk with cow’s milk, as well as all the animal breeds.

NON-BOVINE VARIETY WHAT FUN?

Goat Milk, Camel Milk, Sheep Milk and Buffalo Milk are all the standard non-Bovine. We always wonder what will turn up next though. Totally a mixed bag of cheese and dairy when you add all the styles made from these milks -producers are creating so many varied dairy products often to be judged together. What fun!

GOING TO THE RAS 2026 SHOW?-

We hope you enjoy this year’s show everyone. Whatever attracts you there we pray it’s a safe and encouraging time for you and a great community gathering for the 2026 RAS SHOW. We are one country with people from many different backgrounds. We all call Australia HOME so let’s keep that in the forefront of our minds. Go see the district displays and please vote for the WESTERN DISTRICTS! Jannei at 2026 RAS SHOW TIME -YEH!

Take your cheese board to the next level!

Winter at Jannei Goat Dairies: A Season for Aged and Marinated Goat Cheese

As winter settles in, our goats take things a little slower — but that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on delicious cheese. At Jannei Goat Dairies, we’ve prepared plenty of cheese made during the warmer months, ready for you to enjoy through winter and into spring.

Seasonal Cheese Selection

Our Lidsdale aged goat cheese and marinated feta are two of our favourites for the cooler months. The Lidsdale, a semi-hard artisan cheese, offers a rich, layered flavour that pairs beautifully with a crisp Sauvignon Blanc or even a drizzle of honey. The marinated feta, made from our own goat’s milk, brings a creamy, tangy note to salads, grazing boards, and warm winter dishes.

You’ll also find fresh curd and pressed curd available year-round — perfect for those who enjoy lighter, more delicate cheeses.

Buying Local and Supporting the Herd

When you order directly from our online shop, you’ll receive cheese with long best-before dates and the best delivery value. It’s an easy way to keep your fridge stocked with Australian goat cheese for any occasion, while helping to support our goats through the quieter winter months.

Each purchase goes directly toward feeding and caring for our herd as they raise their kids — ready to provide fresh, creamy milk again in spring and summer.

Delivery and Local Stockists

We deliver refrigerated orders to homes in Sydney’s CBD for a flat freight rate of $25, and we’re working on expanding affordable delivery to other areas.

If you’re in the Blue Mountains, you can find our cheeses locally at:

  • Springwood IGA – LLOYD’S
  • Katoomba Co-Op

You can also visit us directly on the Castlereagh Highway, where our farm factory and cellar door are open for purchases.

Fresh Milk and Kefir

Supplies of fresh milk and kefir are limited during winter, so we recommend placing your orders early. Your ongoing support helps us continue our work as local farmers and cheesemakers — keeping traditional, small-scale goat dairying alive in regional New South Wales.

Enjoy the warmth of winter with a touch of Jannei flavour.
Discover our range of Australian goat cheese online, and bring a taste of the farm to your next gathering.

Marinated Goat’s Cheese now avaliable through our website!

Jannei Creamy Fetta, spelt with two t’s, is a beautiful summer cheese. Handmade and packed on farm- these marinated jars of fetta goat milk cheese, are a Farmers Market favourite.

We make our goat milk feta in summer. Our marinated goat milk cheese, aims to capture the same charm as finding us at a market. Each jar is carefully filled to the brim with handmade labels — perfect for gifting at any time of year.

These days, Jannei is at three markets, but we’re proud to remember our beginnings. We were at Eveleigh Markets in its first year — winter 2010 — and that year it won Best Market in Sydney. Before that, we were at Pyrmont Farmers Market from 1998 until 2007. In 2007, we won seven awards at the Royal Easter Show, and soon after, Neil had open-heart surgery. Amazingly, he’s still here, making outstanding cheese every day.

Over the years, getting to markets has become more challenging. Between the setup, travel, market fees, and petrol, you have to sell a lot just to cover costs.

At Jannei, we’re a small farm making small batches of all our products. Everything we make starts with our farm-harvested raw goat milk, and our marinated cheeses are no exception. Our focus is on high-quality food in every package or jar — no shortcuts, no preservatives, no stale products, and no cheap fillers. You can taste the care in every bite.

NEW LABEL AT THE BACK OF THE GLASS – RAW GOAT MILK AND RAW KEFIR -BOTTLES!

GLASS MILK BOTTLES- JANNEI RAW GOAT MILK UPGRADE

Hi everyone❤❤👍(❁´◡`❁)

– just posting this and practising up loading pictures- and all the other elements in wordpress.

Glass Bottles

Raw milk in glass has been popular and the bottles are great -but it seems by LAW we have to say on the label if the bottle will NOT freeze. Because this is a new offer, we got the best generic bottles that suit our raw milk labels- But they do not distinguish this packaging requirement – so until we add the notes to the label, we will use a sticker on the back.

We were going to throw our hands up and take the glass off the web site – no thanks to one trying customer – I ask do you freeze anything in glass?  But we rose above it with a prayer and an injection of positivity. Luckily, I was a graphic designer in a past life – even though I would like a life and not spend Friday doing labels – BUT good always come s from any trial if one looks for it and stays positive. God is in Control!🙌

Thanks to our supportive customers-

We wouldn’t operate without our customers support and as said to not so great customer, we can only please our customers as best we can within limits. We can only do what we can do as a small farm produce business. BUT- Why shoot ourselves in the foot because of this so supply will resume!! 👍😊👏✨

Deliveries

Raw milk and other Jannei products are packed and sent down to Sydney every Tuesday to be freighted to customers. All year!  NOW with freight, petrol and wages all adding on costs- the freight has jumped through the roof in some areas- Sorry to Central and South coats AND interstate!

Upside – we can send bulk in summer.

Customers getting together –

We are trying to get customers to link up with a shop or a health practitioner and split the freight. Five boxes to one location for the same price – $95 to $155.00 it can now cost to freight further afield. We may need to go back to the old systems of creating mini- co-op communities. Getting together to get healthy farm produce and sharing the freight together. Five people could receive there box for the same cost. It has to be one location.

Thanks again for your support we would love your feedback on any of the above things and ideas. Jan and Neil JANNEI GOAT DAIRY👌
