Description
Information & tasting notes
The Bent Back Chèvre started to stand out in 2001. It develops robust flavour as it matures with a beautiful lengthening of palette. Ripened with a white mold the cheese has characteristic blue undertones but no blue mold is added. This cheese was named after a book about the Western Coal Miners written by our late neighbour Mr Jim Brown.
We thought it appropriate at the time because the cheese used to bend over like the bent back’s of the hard working coal miners. The mold is ancient looking like the inside of mountains. White mold is a living organism too growing like a stalagmite but in its case into the cheese to create our unique award winning champion cheese
Bent Back Chèvre is individually wrapped in cheese foil and usually weighs out from 165gm to 170gm. It is a cone pyramid shape.

Please do not let prior experiences with other (goat’s) cheese hold you back: You owe it to yourself to visit Jannei – Janette and Neil are absolutely delightful, see for yourself how happy the goats are, taste for yourself how superb the Bent Back Chevre is. Expectedly earthy in umami, a subtle rush of wet mushrooms with highlights of grass and hay without any overpowering goat in your face, this is a beautiful cheese. I have been buying this cheese at the Danks Street Market in Sydney for the past few months – and now that I am returning to the US I will miss it greatly. This is an outstanding goat cheese, as good as the best I’ve found in the US, Canada and France. Wish you delivered overseas!
